Writer, Do You Have a Vision?

 By Andrea Merrell

What is your vision for 2022? Do you have one? Have you set goals for yourself or do you plan to just wait and see what happens?

Proverbs tells us that “where there is no vision, the people perish” (29:18 KJV). In Habakkuk we read, “Write the vision and make it plain” (2:2 NKJV).

Most of us, especially as writers, have dreams we long to see fulfilled. Whether it’s writing an inspirational blogpost to becoming a best-selling novelist, we can easily become discouraged when it doesn’t happen in our self-appointed timeframe. But Habakkuk also says, “The vision is for an appointed time … Though it tarries, wait for it because it will surely come” (vs. 3).

A God-given dream is what gives us hope and keeps us moving forward. Even when we don’t feel ready or qualified for what He calls us to do, we know that we can do all things through Christ and that with Him, nothing is impossible.

So, my challenge for you in 2022 is to write your vision. Make it plain. Be specific. And dare to dream big.

May God richly bless you in this New Year as you use your gift of words to bless others.

Happy New Year from The Write Editing!

  1. Even though I know this is important, sometimes I need that little push to get started on a plan. Thanks for sharing this wisdom from Habakkuk.
