The Writer's 23rd Psalm

By Andrea Merrell

The Lord is my shepherd, agent, and publicist. He provides everything I need to be a successful writer, and I shall never lack for divine appointments, connections, and inspiration.

He beckons me to come away from the computer and leads me to a quiet, restful place to spend time in His presence. He gives me strength and shows me how to honor Him with my gifts and talents.

He restores my confidence and creativity. He leads me down the correct paths and gently pulls me back when I run ahead. He opens the right doors of opportunity that He has planned just for me—so He can be glorified.

Even when I walk through the valley of rejection letters and red ink, I will not fear because You are right beside me to comfort, guide, and get me back on the right path. Your rod and staff protect me and give me the courage to keep writing—no matter what life throws my way.

You prepare a lush table before me—containing all the tools and skills I need—in the presence of editors, agents, and publishers. You anoint my head with the oil of godly wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. My cup overflows with blessings far beyond my expectations.

Surely, divine favor and your amazing grace will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell safely and securely in the writing and publishing industry as long as I have breath.

Written with the utmost respect for God's Word and especially for the 23rd Psalm.

  1. This is so beautiful and touching, Andrea. It brought tears to my eyes. I will print it out and read it every time I get discouraged. The Lord is indeed all-sufficient!
